I love my air fryer, and I love finding new things I can make with it. These air fryer mozzarella sticks would be lovely served with these air fryer chips.
I had seen people talking about air fryers for awhile, but I wasn’t sure we needed one. I wondered what it does, whether it works and whether we really needed another Thing in our kitchen. Dear reader, we did indeed need another Thing in our kitchen, and I am so glad it was an air fryer.
An air fryer is like a deep fat fryer but without the oil. Despite a love for fried foods I have never owned a deep fat fryer because those things terrify me! I had a housemate who had one that I would occasionally use, and it was amazing. However, I am on a weight loss journey with the support of weight loss surgery, so I definitely don’t need a deep fat fryer in the house!

Enter the air fryer mozzarella sticks.
Now I’m not going to lie to you, these are not as crispy as the ones you get from restaurants or McDonald’s, but they are a heck of a lot healthier!
They are also much cheaper to make yourself!
Ingredients for air fryer mozzarella sticks
To make these delicious cheesy sticks you will need:
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 10 mozzarella sticks
- Tomato sauce or pizza topping for dunking
How to make air fryer mozzarella sticks
Take your mozzarella sticks & cut them in halves.
Beat the eggs in a bowl.
Combine the Italian seasoning and breadcrumbs in a second bowl.
Dip a mozzarella stick into the egg mixture and coat it completely.
Dip the same mozzarella stick into the bowl with the breadcrumbs and coat completely.
Transfer to a baking sheet and line them up so they are not touching. Freeze for a 1/2 hour.
Coat the mozzarella sticks again, and then stick them in the freezer again.
Set your air fryer to 200°C.
Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 8 to 10 minutes until the exterior is golden and crispy.
Serve with tomato ketchup or pizza sauce and enjoy!
These don’t store very well, so it you want to enjoy them at their best then serve them fresh.
