What is an air fryer?

An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks food by circulating hot air around the food. Air frying is healthier than deep frying because it doesn’t use any oil and it produces less fat.

It can also be more fuel efficient to run an air fryer versus a traditional oven, as you are heating a smaller area and often for less time that something will need to cook in the oven for.

Can you use any air fryer for Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken?

No, you cannot use any air fryer to make an air fryer rotisserie chicken.

You will need to have an air fryer that has this feature.

We use the Tower Xpress Pro T17039 Vortx 5-in-1 Digital Air Fryer Oven with Rapid Air Circulation which has been 100% worth the money just for the amount of air fryer rotisserie chickens we have cooked in it so far!

You will need to look for an air fryer that has the rotisserie function, and comes with the spit handle.

You might have to tie the legs of the chicken together to prevent them dragging on the bottom of the air fryer.

Put a small amount of olive oil and spice into a small bowl, mix well. Our favourite is paprika, but you can really get creative here. You can add salt, garlic powder, rosemary and many more!

Brush your oil and spice mixture onto the chicken.

Put the chicken into the air fryer. It is a really good idea to use an oven liner cut to size to protect the bottom of your air fryer – with the chicken rotating there isn’t always the space to use the drip tray.

Select the correct settings. Chicken, rotate, and set for a time of 1 hour at a temperature of 180 or 200. Your chicken will be more moist at the lower temperature.

If you are using part baked rolls then ten minutes before completion is when you are going to want to cook them.
