Oat milk is starting to pave its way in coffee shops to be one of the favourites for avid coffee drinkers. The neutral flavour of oat milk also allows roasted coffee beans to come through, unlike other dairy milk substitutes with a strong flavour that sometimes overshadows the natural coffee taste. It also has a longer shelf life than most dairy products in the market, allowing you to enjoy it for longer without worrying about it deteriorating in several days. Here is the best coffee with oat milk recipes that will surely leave you wanting more.

The Traditional Oat Milk Latte

Nothing beats the traditional oat milk latte. Lattes are rich and creamy, making them the ideal caffeine boost for a gloomy morning or a wintry day. If you’re lactose intolerant but wish to try this, then this recipe is the one for you. Oat milk is a suitable non-dairy milk alternative for lactose intolerant or allergic to certain foods as it only contains natural ingredients that are free of nuts, soy, and lactose.

1 cup of brewed coffee or 1–2 espresso shots (depending on your preference)

1 cup of oat milk

One teaspoon of maple syrup for taste (optional)

How to prepare:

1. Prepare your espresso or coffee with your coffee machine.

2. Pour a cup of oat milk into a pot and heat it on the stove. If you’re planning to use maple syrup, add it along with the milk and whisk gently. Heat everything on medium heat until the mixture starts to thicken.

3. Remove the pot from the heat and then transfer it into your blender. Blend everything until a frothy foam starts to form. You can also use milk frothier as an alternative.

4. Fill your mug with the coffee or espresso, then pour the oat milk over your coffee. Scoop off some froth, place it on top of your latte, and serve.

Due to its neutral flavour, oat milk is the ideal partner when you want to experiment with other flavours. Adding vanilla pods or other whole spices such as cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, or cloves allows you to produce barista-worthy blends. You could even amp up your coffee game if you combine oat milk with roughly ground coffee beans.

1 cup of cold brew coffee

1 cup of oat milk

A bit of whole spices of your choice (Vanilla pod and cinnamon is recommended)

How to prepare:

1. Start making your cold brew and set aside.

2. Pour some oat milk, add whole spices in a pot, and heat it over medium heat until everything starts to boil.

3. Turn down the heat and set it aside for about 30 minutes to enable the spices to infuse with the oat milk.

4. After 30 minutes, pour your cold brew into your mug, add the spiced oat milk, and serve it with ice.

You may consume the spiced oat milk right away or keep it in the fridge for later. The spiced oat milk can last up to a week if refrigerated.
