Christmas can be an expensive time of the year, but making a DIY Christmas sign is not only a great way to save money and reuse products you already have to hand, it is also a great festive activity for the entire family to enjoy.
This Joy DIY Christmas sign is made using reclaimed wood and a Christmas bauble. It is easy to make and keeps the whole family entertained.
You can use these instructions to create your own sign using any festive word or phrase that you like, plus changing up the colours of the paints and the bauble that you use.
DIY Christmas sign supplies
You will need:
- Reclaimed wood
- Pop tab
- Screw
- Screwdriver
- Green Paint
- One small nail
- Glue
- White Paint
- Paint brush
Directions
Clean the wood using dish soap, water and vinegar.
Allow to dry.
Cut wood to the desired size. (About 8″)
Paint the wood green.
Allow to dry.
Paint the letters J and Y on the wood, leaving a space of about 4″ between them.
Allow to dry.
Flip the wood over and attach a pop tab with one screw so that the tab faces you. Line the tab up evenly with the top of the board.
Flip the board back to the painted side.
Place a small nail in the center of the letters J and Y.
Pop the top off of a Christmas Bauble.
Place the opening over the nail head.
Secure with a drop of glue.
Allow to dry and hang.
Other Christmas wood signs
You can use this method to create a wide variety of Christmas wood signs – just think of different festive words you can create replicating this.
You can also mix up the colours of the paint and baubles to change it up.
