I’d like a little of both please. Enjoying the sunshine, finishing some outside jobs and going swimming, but also watching films and eating avocado toast.

As a money blogger I am the most perfect example of financial responsibility…oh wait 🤦🏻‍♀️

For various reasons that cost me years of therapy I am…call it whatever you want - a hoarder, an emotional spender, someone filling a void. Whatever you label it, I have been leaning on shopping and Buying Things for awhile.

I leaned on excuses too much, and a few weeks ago a friend kindly but sternly told me that I am always decluttering my house because I’m always buying stuff.

🤦🏻‍♀️

I mean, it’s obvious isn’t it?

After I stewed whilst driving home I realised she was right, and finally I was ready to tackle my emotional spending.

I’m by no means perfect but I thought I would share some ideas that have helped me out. If you have anything else to add PLEASE let me know 🙏🏻

1. Deleting apps from my phone. This was HARD and didn’t happen overnight. I deleted OOOOO a few months ago, then deleted Aggora. Both amazing apps for saving money but I was buying too much. More app deletions soon followed.
2. Taking photos of items I wanted - this way I could go away and think about them. Wow, this was massive and more than halved my spending. I still got that immediate dopamine hit of finding something I liked, but without bringing more clutter into my home. I started sharing some photos on my stories and got messages about cheaper alternatives, DIYs and even telling me some items were rubbish and not worth the money.
3. I started keeping a list of items I haven’t impulse bought and how much they would have cost me. The list for this month is ridiculous and comes to over £550 already.
4. I’ve also been really harsh with my decluttering, selling items on Vinted and eBay to recoup some of the money I’ve spent. The money is spent already so anything extra is a bonus.

I’ve still got a long way to go but I can see some of these habits being long-term changes.

I love a Kate Spade bag, but you will also find me always checking out the yellow sticker shelf when I go to a supermarket.

One luxury that I will always make room in my budget for is our gym membership. It isn’t the cheapest and it isn’t the closest, but my goodness it is the best! With an indoor and outdoor pool plus a spa, I love going there and it really feels like being on a little holiday, especially when the sun is shining 🌞

What is something you will always make room in your budget for? I bet most of you say a decent loo roll 😂

This is your ✨sign✨ to book tickets to go and see @sixthemusical at London’s Lyrical Theatre. Just in case you needed one.

As more things become available to us and restrictions lift it can be quite overwhelming to Do Things. On the morning of the show we were both anxiety ridden, but Poppy was at the puppy sitter and we decided to go for it - I am so glad we did.

Not only did we bag seats three rows from the front, the venue offered lots of safety measures like social distancing and masks worn during the performance.

The show was AMAZING! I had been listening to the songs on repeat for a few days beforehand, so thanks to my mask I was able to sing along. I think seeing this show should be part of the curriculum tbh; I learned a lot more about Henry VIII than I did in school 😂

It is quite a short show so it made getting home that same night much easier, and all in all it was just super fun!

Today was the day that I went to my first car boot

Today was the day that I went to my first car boot sale this year and I was blown away! There’s a haul of what I picked up for myself over in my stories if you fancy a look 👀

Whilst there we stumbled across @shopchicbloom and I fell in love with their wax melts - they are so beautiful! With the cats, Poppy and the hamsters I just don’t feel that we can be trusted with a wax burner but I really wanted to support their small business so I picked up a selection of wax melts to do a little giveaway with.
