Mrs Pinch is full of recipes and ideas for those of us looking to pinch the pennies.

I am known for being a money making blogger, and so Mrs Pinch was a project that I sat on for 9 months before deciding to go for it. I wanted a project to challenge me, to help me to learn new skills such as food photography and something that I could use to help others to save money.

My main blog, Make Money Without A Job is jam packed with ways to make money, and frugal tips don’t really live there anymore.

Thus, Mrs Pinch was born.

Who we are

Despite the name, Mrs Pinch is a joint effort of Emma & Tony Drew, falling under our business Drew Media LTD.

A bit about Emma…

My family fled South Africa, where I grew up, because someone tried to kill my Mum in our own home. We left with only out suitcases, and lost everything. What followed was 6 months of living in a homeless hostel, sometimes relying on food banks to get by. I vowed that I would never see myself in that situation again, and I haven’t!

Since then I went on to university and graduated into the recession, where I had to turn to online money making to get by. I started my blog as a way of showing my readers what works and what doesn’t, and it really took off! I handed in my notice to my full time job and left in November 2015, and started employing my husband a couple of months later.

I have grown my blog into a six-figure business, and I am passionate about sharing my hints and tips with my readers.

A bit about Tony…

Hi, I’m Tony also known as Thrifty Husband. My wife and I live a thrifty lifestyle in order to help us enjoy the things we want to enjoy, such as holidays.

After coming up with plenty of ideas for my wife’s blog, which focuses more on making extra money, she told me to get out of her hair and start my own blog – so here I am! I enjoy saving money, making extra money and living a more comfortable life. Other than the thriftyness I also enjoy reading, movies, video games (sometimes a little too much) and I also collect models.

Like everyone I was always interested in a deal and saving or making extra money but this truly came into its own when I started going out with my now wife. She taught me so many extra ways that I would never have thought of before. This means we have enjoyed tons of holidays to Disney World as well as our dream wedding.

Mrs Pinch, Mrs Hinch and Poundland

The idea for Mrs Pinch came to me in November 2018, and after checking that it wasn’t trademarked, MrsPinch.com was purchased on 11 November 2018.

Fully aware that people would make a connection to Mrs Hinch, I did nothing with the domain. I was scared that I would be accused of copying Mrs Hinch, despite having no intention to create any similar content, nor have an Instagram account for Mrs Pinch. Despite the fact that I have been blogging about money for over 9 years now, and even won the UK’s best frugal and thrifty blog a few years ago, I let fear stop me. Now my main blog, Make Money Without A Job is more about ways to make money than frugality, which is how Mrs Pinch was born.

In early 2019, Poundland came out with a Mrs Pinch pun, which again stopped me from working on this blog.

I decided to reach out to Poundland to see if they wanted the domain.

However there was no reply.

I decided to stop feeling the fear and do it anyway.

If we let the opinions of others stop us from doing the things we love well then life isn’t really worth living is it?
