In My Colouring Era Free UK Spelling Downloads

I’ve officially entered my colouring era and I don’t see myself leaving any time soon.

Colouring has slowly worked its way back into my daily life over the last year, not as something I need to be good at or finish perfectly, but as a way to switch my brain off. It’s become part of my routine, part of my evening wind-down, and sometimes just something I do while watching Netflix instead of scrolling.

If you’ve been on TikTok, Pinterest, or Instagram lately, you’ve probably seen the phrase “in my colouring era” everywhere. It’s become a bit of shorthand for choosing calmer hobbies, romanticising quiet evenings, and giving yourself permission to enjoy something purely because it feels nice.

When I went looking for a simple phrase to add to my own journal, I kept hitting the same small but frustrating issue.

Everything was “coloring”. The American spelling.

And as much as I tried to let it go, I just couldn’t. I wanted something that felt right for me, used UK spelling, and fit the cosy, low-pressure vibe I associate with colouring now. So I opened up my design tools and made my own.

These free “in my colouring era” images are exactly that. Simple, printable designs you can use in your journal, planner, or creative projects at home.

How I use mine

I’ve been using these mostly in my journalling. Some days they get their own page with a bit of washi tape and a date. Other times I cut them down and tuck them into the corner of a spread alongside a coloured page or a brain dump.

I’ve made a colouring journal for myself 😍 I always thought that with journalling you needed to be neat, have an expensive bullet journal, have the best hand writing but I’m learning that’s 100% NOT what it’s about. So far I have my title page (might add some stickers to it), my Colourtok goals and my Dream Collabs (hello @Deco Time @grabieofficial @TGJones @Sunnyvibescolouring @Luna Sparks Coloring @Ohuhuart 👋🏻) I am excited to build this up over the year! Ps let me know if you want that ‘in my colouring era’ image and I’ll make it available on my site! They’re also really nice if you keep a colouring journal or log where you track what you’ve coloured, which pens you used, or how the session made you feel. Having a little visual marker like this helps the whole thing feel more intentional, without needing to be fancy.

If you’re more crafty, you can absolutely print them onto sticker paper and make your own stickers for personal use. I know a lot of people love adding little phrases like this to journals, planners, and notebooks, especially when they’re in a particular season of life or hobby.

You could also use them for personal projects like printing onto card for bookmarks, dashboards, or inserts, or even making a t-shirt, tote bag, or hoodie just for yourself. Something quietly affirming about wearing a phrase that sums up where you’re at.

Personal use only, please

These downloads are free and designed to be shared, but they are for personal use only.

That means you’re very welcome to print them, stick them, colour them, and use them in your own journals and creative projects. What you can’t do is use them commercially.

You can’t make stickers or prints to sell, include them in paid bundles, upload them to selling platforms, or use them as part of a product you’re charging for. They’re intended as a creative extra, not something to monetise.

Why I’m sharing these

Colouring has genuinely become one of my favourite ways to relax. It doesn’t demand anything from me, it doesn’t require a finished outcome, and it pairs so well with journalling when my head feels busy.

If you’ve found your way here through my ColourTok content, you’ll already know how much I love talking about markers, colouring books, cosy setups, and realistic, pressure-free colouring. If you’re new to that side of what I share, you can find my colouring videos over on my TikTok account, @emmascolourcorner.

These free images felt like a natural extension of all of that. A small, useful thing that reflects the joy of colouring without turning it into something complicated.

If you’re in your colouring era too, I hope these make your journalling or creative time feel a little more you.
